Hey collegegirl, aren't you in Minnesota? When are you coming up to the Twin Cities???
No Apologies
ok, i am looking for someone i knew way back when, but i don't want to just blurt a name out, for obvious reasons... this person grew up in minnesota in the same congregation i did, she is probably late 40's- early 50's?
the last i heard she has left the borg and is working on a book about her life in the troof.
so, thats really probably as much info as i want to put out here, but if you think i am talking about you, or someone you know, leave me a pm.

(since i suspect i am being watched to ensure my compliance to the terms of the settlement agreement, i thought i would take advantage of the captive audience) .
hey!
watch tower!
Yo Del,
who is she? and more importantly, where can we find a larger version of the pic???? Hook the brotha's up!

does anybody here watch this?
i missed the first season, i saw the movie sky one showed before the second season started, and now i'm hooked.
i bought the dvd's, both mini-series/movie and season one from amazon while they were on sale.
Battlestar Galactica may only be at season 2 for the UK, but the US has just started its season 3.
Uh, not to sound picky but its still season 2. The Sci-fi channel runs their series goofy, they run the first half in the summer, then take a break when the big networks roll out the fall premieres, then restart the season in January. Season 3 starts filming shortly, Lucy Lawless will be back for a 10-episode arc.
Regardless, best show on tv right now.
For those of you avoiding it because of memories of the original(pleasant or otherwise), just pretend you have never heard of it before, you will not be disappointed. Although I have yet to see a daggit on the new show.

jwd news, feb 01, 2006 .
in a move not surprising to ex members of the pervasive sect known as jehovahs witnesses, the watchtower bible and tract society issued a censorship request to google -- the worlds largest internet search software company.
although it was a privately issued request, jwd news has obtained a copy of the formal request issued monday from one of watchtowers dissident factory workers.
i recieve many pms, emails, and more recently, many thread replies which ask me a simple question.. why are you disassociating yourself?
why not just fade?.
well, here's why.. my mother, and her mother, are in the "truth".
Dude,
If you really wrote that letter as you were getting ready to get baptised, your baptism was obviously invalid.

i'm sure this topic has come up before but i'm new here :-) since many of us are offspring of the baby boomer generation or of a generation earlier, i've noticed a trend.
my parents and their siblings who largely grew up as witnesses are now entering or have entered retirement age.
although my parents were generally hard working and responsible people, they have little retirement savings.
Oh and one more thing, an article in my college newspaper in October featured a bethelite "sister" who is attending my school to study political science and woman issues (um what's wrong with this picture???), she had won an award. Anyway a friend of mine knows her, she lives at bethel with her husband who is a bethel dentist. How much do you want to bet that Bethel is paying for her education?
???? Ok this makes no sense. I mean, I know they sent Bethelites to college to become lawyers, they need lawyers. Why would they be sending a 'sister' to college to study political science and womens issues? Even if they are not paying her tuition, if she is living at Bethel, they are supporting her somewhat.
Even leaving out the Bethel piece of it, a JW 'sister' going to college? for political science? womens issues?
Maybe her husband has some kind of skill they need and can't find anywhere else.. Or they have some connections...

does the wtachtower baptise the mentally ill ?
it sure seems like it with all the new freaks here making claims of being prophets and jesus etc.....is this how low they will go to get their numbers up ?
it really makes me wonder.......
I don't really understand the point of this question. What does mental illness have to do with whether a person can become a JW or not? Why are you putting people with mental illness in some kind of special category? If they for some reason did not baptise people based on their mental condition(and who is going to decide that?) then you would be hollering that they are discriminating.
Besides what are they going to do, tell baptismal candidates: "Prove you're not mentally ill!" ???

ok this morning i wrote about panic crisis so i think i have one now.
i was on the forum and in my mailbox there was a message that said me :.
i could not help but feel for you very much.
I am now 68, have been in the truth and baptised at 13, and still find it easy to respect and love the brotherhood.
The brotherhood is not the problem, its the two-faced liars at the top running the show that most of here have issues with. All his scriptural examples overlook the fact that once Jehovah moved on to using a new organization, it was up to the individuals to realize this and move along too, i.e. the Jews in the 1st century had to become part of the Christian congregation once it was clear that the nation of Israel was no longer his org. He also overlooks the fact that a person is bloodguilty if they are part of a bloodguilty organization- Rev 18:4-8*

*this of course all assumes you still accept the Bible as some kind of inspired mutterings.
